Wood with Recycled Hemlock Timber Bench
Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia
I was commissioned by a friend in the Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia to make a mini free community library. It is installed at their home near the sidewalk so that it is accessible to the community. It is a memorial to a friend of hers who died and was an avid reader. I designed the mini library with a bench for people to sit at while enjoying looking through the books in the library. The bench is made from recycled Hemlock timbers from an 1850's church that I dismantled a number of years ago. Many people grieved when the church came down and so I am grateful to find a beautiful new purpose for the timbers as a memorial to someone else's transition.
